A Study of Bergson`s `life` and Moreno`s `spontaneity and creativity`
Choi Mu-Young

Abstract
This study examines the diversity of life concepts by comparing Bergson`s Theory of Life with Moreno`s spontaneity and creativity. In addition, we explore the possibility of unifying the life and material by comparing Hun Jin Choi`s `Saengmyeonggut` with the poet Ji Ha Kim`s life concept. Bergson explains the nature of life and matter by critically examining Herbert Spencer`s and Charles Darwin`s Theory of evolution in his main work ¡ìCreative Evolution¡í. Unlike the material that is formed through mechanical and teleological evolutionary processes as revealed in Spencer`s Social Evolution Theory and Darwin`s Biological Evolutionary Theory, life is formed in the process of continuous `Elan Vital` which goes against the flow of evolution(time). Moreno`s spontaneity is a fundamental force in the universe that resembles Bergson`s `Elan Vital`, and the best function and condition of this spontaneity is called creativity. According to Ji Ha Kim, life can be defined under the premise that everything changes, and the distinction between life and non-life, matter and non-material is also considered meaningless by E. Jantsch`s and I. Prigogine`s natural science inquiries. Both Bergson and Moreno think that all beings are constantly living and moving, making repeated changes and generations, so humans also come from outer space and return to outer space. By understanding the diversity and differences of these life concepts, we will be able to understand the actor and the issues raised in the actor on the stage of psychodrama through expanded and deepened understanding of life.
